Lhosar 2007

Lhosar 2007

Since the inception of Tamudhee Association UK, tamus have been celebrating Lhochhar annually to welcome the tamu New Year. In order to celebrate the New Year in its full glory and with gusto, the Lhochhar programmes are judiciously selected to provide the diverse audience with lively, colourful and varied entertaining programmes. The programmes feature stage songs by well known Nepalese artists from Nepal (sponsored by Tamudhee) and local talented artists. Also included in the programs are modern, classical and cultural folk dances of various regions of Nepal, English and Hindi dances which are all adeptly performed by our enthusiastic and talented artists not forgetting our young children who always put up tantalizing dance routines.

The Lhochhar celebration has been well received by the audience and the burgeoning number of Nepalese (non-tamus) and other nationalities coming to celebrate and watch our programmes year after year is a testimony of the popularity of the event. This year was no exception as we had the largest crowd turning up to watch our programme. Unfortunately, with great reluctance, we had to turn away some of the people as the venue was full to its capacity of 1200 people. It is through the diligence and dedication of each and every Tamudhee member and volunteers that the Lhochhar celebration has been such a huge success. The Association stands proud today in its ability to organise such an important event with aplomb.

Though Lhochhar is mainly a tamu celebration, it nevertheless attracts many Nepalese (non- tamus) and other nationalities as well. Being strictly a non discriminative association, we warmly welcome them irrespective of their race, sex, religion, colour and creed. Bearing this very thing in mind, the celebration programmes are thus designed to appeal to such a diverse audience.

Tamudhee endeavours to improve its celebration each year by taking in all feed back that it receives at the post event meetings both from members and non-members. It is not long before the next Lhocchar will be upon us and the Association has already begun to put the plan in motion to ensure that next years celebration is elevated to the next level.
